Tony Nikolic
A proactive, hardworking and highly accomplished Lawyer, Civil/Human Rights Lawyer and Criminologist with a great passion for learning about law and providing efficient and effective legal aid to clients to achieve favourable outcomes.
Tony holds a Masters Degree in Commercial Litigation,Family Dispute Resolution, Honours Degree in the Social Sciences majoring in Criminology, Diploma of Business Management and trade qualifications in telecommunications, allowing him to become familiar with construction/building practices.
As a legal practitioner in a fast paced, ever - changing environment, Tony is dedicated to continuous professional development and eager to broaden his existing knowledge and learn new skills to achieve organisational objectives. He is constantly analysing processes and conducting legal research to identify gaps, develop improvements and implement solutions to diverse challenges in the legal practice and in the socio/political landscape. With a proactive approach to problem solving and a strong client and quality service focus, Tony is capable of taking the initiative and making decisions to maintain a high standard of practice and further improve the quality of services offered by Ashley, Francina, Leonard & Associates.
Tony is analytical, solution focused, trustworthy and self-motivated, with an exceptional drive and enthusiasm. Having worked with clients from diverse backgrounds and collaborated with stakeholders at every level, he has enhanced his natural communication, liaison and networking skills. Tony thrives on working in a team environment and joining efforts to overcome obstacles and achieve organisational goals while maintaining positive working relationships conducive to continuous improvement.
Community Pro Bono Assistance
Committed to social justice, Tony consistently offers pro bono legal work and devotes a large portion of his practice to disadvantaged persons, aiming at making a positive difference in their lives whilst contributing to the embetterment of society. In 2022, Tony and his team of former emergency service colleagues and friends spent 10 days assisting residents of the Northern Rivers of NSW during the floods. In that time Tony set up triage, assisted with delivering food/water to isolated communities, elderly and livestock, registration services for the community and trades attending the region to assist, helped with a setting up communications and reporting hubs in Coraki and working closely with Australian Defence Force and emergency services at a time when very few resources were available.
Tony regularly visits Indigenous communities to assist with providing legal support and has travelled as far as Kalgoorlie in Western Australia to represent disadvantaged First Nations citizens in Court and have them released from jail in circumstances where no one else would assist. Tony has worked in the Coronial sector and represented Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities with respect to Deaths in Custody and remains a strong advocate for Civil and Human Rights in Australia.
Tony also attends upon the homeless, the youth and sends staff to assist with sending food and clothes on the Streets of Sydney and Western Sydney.
Tony also volunteers with the Bridge of Hope Innocence project and has travelled to the USA integrating with their respective innocence projects. The importance of these Human and Civil Rights projects is testimony to Tony continued passion for pro bono legal work assisting the community, when they are often forgotten by others.
He attends information nights with youth and former Police officers to teach the youth about Law and Order thereby guiding the youth towards lawful and gainful employment.
Most recently Tony commenced the actions in the Supreme Court of NSW to preserve the medical freedoms of all Australian citizens and remains steadfast in ensuring Australia’s Human Rights Laws are returned to benchmark global standards, rather than the steady decline we have witnessed over the past few years during the Covid-19 flu season. The right to bodily autonomy and one's decision to be free from Government intrusion into private life is a strong topic of which drives Tony’s ambitions.
Political Landscape
In 2022, Tony ran in the Federal Election as a first time Candidate attaining over 8% of the vote.
He advocates on behalf of Australians in other areas such as improving Whistle-blower protection laws and ensuring Australia’s national security is maintained at a high level.
Passions/Hobbies
Tony is a passionate NRL supporter of the Sydney Roosters and as many may
be aware, he is not only a member but also bears a tattoo demonstrating his loyalty to his club. Sports and sports law are a passion Tony is working on and hopes to develop in due course.
When Tony steps away from his professional life, his passion for rock music takes centre stage. A talented bass guitarist, Tony is a proud member of the rock band Committee Horse. His love for music is not just a pastime but a deeply rooted part of his life. He dedicates countless hours to rehearsals and is a familiar face at local live music venues and supports the live music culture in Australia and overseas, where his performances captivate audiences. Tony’s musical enthusiasm extends beyond playing; he boasts an extensive collection of bass guitars and rock memorabilia, showcasing his devotion to the genre. His band enjoys putting on a show not just playing music.
Equally passionate about firearms, Tony is a staunch advocate for responsible gun ownership. His impressive collection of firearms, meticulously stored in compliance with the strict standards of the Firearms Act 1996, reflects his commitment to safety and legality. As a member of several firearms clubs, Tony is well-versed in the technical, historical, and practical aspects of firearm ownership. Beyond the range, he enjoys the camaraderie of like-minded enthusiasts and often partakes in hunting trips. Whether shredding on his bass guitar or refining his marksmanship, Tony approaches his hobbies with enthusiasm, discipline, and respect.
Tony also enjoys going to the gym, swimming, and travelling - as well as the simple things in life such as walking along the beach, and spending time with friends and family.
Tony is trilingual, speaking English, Albanian and Serbo-Croat.
